Christopher Limjuco

Mr. Christopher J. Limjuco serves on Hope in Harmony’s Artistry & Outreach Committee, proving that somewhere along the way, someone looked at one of the most introverted people in the choir and said, “Yes. Outreach. Put him in charge of talking to people.”

Chris’ guiding philosophy is, “What’s the worst that can happen?” Unfortunately, life has repeatedly answered the question.

He has been chased by rhinos and gone ps-ps-ps to lions in Africa, had staring contests with 700+ pound brown bears while hiking in Alaska, swum in glacial waters, played dominoes and fútbol with locals in Brazil, carried chicken feed up a cliff with some goats in Jamaica, and slept through an entire opera in Italy. At no point during any of these experiences did he apparently learn anything.

His employment history reads less like a career trajectory and more like someone repeatedly clicking “randomize character.” He has been a chef, stable hand, higher-ed professional, bartender, worked in the Alaskan fishing industry, and done several other things that seemed like good ideas at the time.

After collecting enough stories that require increasingly elaborate explanations, Chris has decided that his next adventure is intentionally putting himself in situations where he has to talk to people. This is considerably less appealing than baking beignets, knitting a sweater he will never finish, reading the same sentence in a book five times and retaining none of it, or bouldering...an activity he appreciates because the rocks have never once asked him what he does for work.

He plays worship music for young adults at CSM, sings at his church, and holds perhaps his most important musical appointment to date: featured vocalist for his niece and nephew.

His hobbies include lifting heavy objects and returning them to exactly where he found them, paying money to run distances no one asked him to run, and purchasing increasingly irresponsible amounts of film to scrapbook a life that, against all available evidence, he insists is becoming quieter.

Deeply influenced by Pope St. John Paul II’s ""Letter to Artists,"" Christopher approaches artistry through three guiding principles: Kapwa, the Filipino value of shared identity and interconnectedness; Serviam (“I will serve”), a commitment to placing his gifts at the service of others; and Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (“For the Greater Glory of God”). Together, these principles shape his belief that artistry is not simply an act of self-expression, but a means of service, connection, and community through which something of the nature of God may be revealed.
